Lascaux2 by CaptainElsa

I know my time here was short and I don’t know how much I helped.

So this is kind of goodbye. But I will still be a member here, and I will always love the Clan of the Cave Bear books. If you want to talk to me, you can send me a note or drop a comment on my page.

Before I go, I would like to introduce you to your new Co-Founder, :iconpelycosaur24:.

Farewell,

Horses2 by CaptainElsa

Not much activity is coming from this group, and I am a Co-Founder of another group which is a lot more active. So I’ve been having some thoughts…
I do love this series very much but I don’t know what I can do here to help out and its hard for me to find people to invite to help the group grow. I've only been here a month… wow.
I’m thinking of leaving my co-founder position here, and just being a member.

But if I leave then there won’t be any activity from the group but I just don’t feel like I want to be Co-Founder anymore. If anyone has any interjections now would be the time to say it. I think by the end of the week I’ll probably leave my admin rank. I feel as if I didn’t help the group very much.

A contest was suggested, but it didn’t really get any widespread interest. For a contest to successfully work, more than 4 people would have to join. If there should be a contest, what would you want it to be about?

I want to help out here more - though since I’m new, and not a lot of things are happening in the Cave Bear news, I was wondering what you guys wanted to do. I can help in a lot of ways. I am experienced with being a Co-Founder. I'm not sure what we should do but I'm willing to do whatever.

We could do a contest, have trivia, book discussions, character talks, Cave Bear related games, etc. Anything is game!
I already made a journal about more books like Clan of the Cave Bear, so go read it if you haven’t (here’s the link):  Similar Books to COTCB
Looking for new prehistoric books to read? You've come to the right place.
As suggested, this journal will cover some more books like Clan of the Cave Bear. In the previous journal I listed a few books, but I’ll put them here anyway in case some of you missed them.
I’ve read most of the books below, and I found the list on Goodreads.com. The only ones I haven’t read are the ones in underline.
Let's get started:
Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver (6 books total, YA)
Wolf Brother
Spirit Walker
Soul Eater (not to be confused with the Anime)
Outcast
Oath Breaker
Ghost HunterPeople of the Wolf (first book in the North America’s Forgotten Past series) by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O’Neal Gear [If you love long, epic series then this one is for you]

Let me know if any ideas come to mind, I’d be willing to hear them.

Fun Game Question: What would your Clan totem be? Choose an animal! Prehistoric or modern is fine, but no fantasy creatures please.

Don't be afraid to submit more art!
Ayla Slinging by CaptainElsa

Usually the first thing that comes to mind when someone says “prehistoric weapons” are spears, stone flakes, and clubs. But really there's a lot more. We Cave Bear fans know that.

But like we all know here, Ayla is awesome with the sling. In order to survive and hunt on her own, Ayla must be good with the sling.

And (spoilers maybe?) Ayla and Jondalar make a kind of a bow weapon in the later books but I forget which one.

Still in the weapons subject, I’m pretty decent with a re-curve bow and arrow. My first shot with my personal bow was a bull’s-eye!

Not sure if it was apart of the series but another weapon I like is an adze. It’s also a good scrabble word. (up until now I didn’t know what one looked like…)

Group Related… I think the next journals could talk about the prehistoric animals, and the books in general.

Short Discussion Questions:

  • If you had to live in prehistoric times, what weapon would you use and learn to master?
  • Can you name any other weapons used in the Earth’s Children series? (honestly my memory is foggy on this one)
  • Also would you be a hunter or gatherer?

Have fun reading & I hope this helped! What should next week’s journal cover? Oh, should I make some new folders?

For Discussion:

- Which books do you want to read of the ones I listed?
- Is there a similar book or series I missed that you know about?

I'd love to hear your comments :)
